Dear Family and Friends,
As you may know, I am preparing to become a Bar Mitzvah in Israel on March 26, 2020. An extremely important part to me of becoming a Bar Mitzvah is giving back to the community. In order to give back to my Jewish community, I am doing a mitzvah project with the Israeli Tennis & Education Centers.
ITEC is an organization that strives to bring tennis, education, and many other important services to the struggling youth of Israel. The ITEC attempts to empower children to make the world a better place. Below is an excerpt from their mission statement:
"Through the discipline of tennis, the Israel Tennis & Education Centers strive to improve the lives of children in one of the most conflicted regions of the world. By teaching the life skills of self-reliance, perseverance and focus, the ITEC fosters sustainable values of self-esteem, character and tolerance, creating a positive imprint on the children, their families, the communities and the world for generations to come."
I have decided to do my mitzvah project with the ITEC because of my love for tennis. I have been passionate about tennis my entire life. I love playing tennis and the sport is teaching me a lot of important skills and life lessons. By doing my mitzvah project with the ITEC, I am bringing my passion for tennis to help a good cause connected to my Jewish community. While I am in Israel, I will be visiting one of the ITEC tennis centers in Ramat Hasharon to spend the day working with the children there.
In addition to donating my time, I would like to help raise money for the ITEC. My goal is to raise $2,000. I will be contributing some of my own money that I have saved over the years from birthday gifts, and I am extremely lucky that my parents will match the proceeds that I am able to raise. If you would like to donate to a good cause you can click the "Donate" button on the upper right hand side to begin the donation process.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider donating to my mitzvah project.
If you have any questions about my mitzvah project or the ITEC, please contact me at [email protected].
Love,
Asher
